Young people in Leicester absolutely deserve better. That is why I am working closely with community activists like Paul to campaign for enhanced youth services and create more opportunities for youth engagement right here in Leicester East. Our goal is clear: build a thriving community where the next generation can flourish.
Why Youth Services Matter
“I want every young person in Leicester East to have access to the support they need - whether it is mentoring, youth clubs, or skills-building programmes. That is why I am fighting for better youth services across our constituency.”
- Shivani Raja MP
By strengthening local youth provision we tackle underlying causes of anti-social behaviour and empower young people to reach their potential.
Proven Impact in Leicester and Beyond
- The Golden Token project at Rowlatts Hill Youth Club is nearing 1 300 young people accessing upskilling, mentorship and community support thanks to funding from the PCC’s safety fund. This scheme is already helping vulnerable young people turn their lives around.
- Somali Development Services’ mentorship programme has received praise from the Police and Crime Commissioner for supporting at-risk youth through sport, parenting workshops and educational engagement—fostering resilience and community cohesion.
- Local charity Young Leicestershire continues to deliver mental health, resilience and open access youth provision to hundreds of young people through detached street work, club sessions and the award-winning Busy Bus initiative
Together these initiatives prove the vital role that targeted youth services play in Leicester East and the wider city.
